Big Love Fest is delighted to be working with Just Economics, a hard-working local organization whose mission is to educate, advocate, and organize for a strong and sustainable economy that works for all in Western North Carolina.
Just Economics has teamed up with the Asheville Grown Business Alliance and The Big Crafty to bring their homebrew competition, held last year at the Wedge Brewery, to the Big Love Fest. Awards will range from “people’s choice” to “brewgasm” awarded by Anne Fitten Glenn. Celebrity judges will include Cecil Bothwell and Gordon Smith of Asheville City Council and prizes will include a chance for the winning beer to be brewed commercially by Highland Brewery.
For brewers and tasters alike, JUST BREW IT is a chance to celebrate Asheville’s home-grown culture, living-wage certified businesses, and local community. Drink beer for economic justice at the JUST BREW IT festival!
A $16 donation gains you admittance to JUST BREW IT and membership in the organization.
Home brewers interested in entering the competition should contactmarkhebbard@justeconomicswnc.org. It is free to enter, however each brewer must be in attendance at the event to serve their beer.

A new festival announced Thursday will celebrate Asheville’s independently owned businesses.
The Big Love Fest follows the theme of a year-old buy-local campaign known as the Asheville Grown Business Alliance. It will take that sentiment and transform it into a big party on Pack Square Park on May 1.
