The Big Crafty

Information for Artists

Upcoming dates
Our 2022 events will be held on July 10 outside at Pack Square Park and December 3-4 inside at Harrah’s Cherokee Center Asheville.

The Big Crafty is a juried event and there are always more applications than we have space for. We look a unique point of view, work that keeps our event diverse and dynamic and is generally an antidote to mass-produced monoculture.

$10 to apply + $145 (summer) / $200 (winter) to participate. Some grant funds available.

Our events feature 150-185 (depending on venue changes) artists across a wide range of mediums and styles.

Our outdoor summer event usually attracts 6-10K, while our indoor winter event usually draws 6-8k.

Your $10 application fee is non-refundable. For those facing hardships, we will refund the vendor fee in full prior to the final payment deadline. After that date, we’ll be counting on your participation and will not be able to refund vendor fees. Please note also that if the event is cancelled due to events beyond our control, we will not be able to refund your booth fee.

Getting Ready
Come prepared with everything you’ll need for your setup — tent (in summer), tables, chairs, etc. If rentals are available for a specific event, that info will be included in your registration options.

Booth shares
Artists sharing booths can apply together or separately but should indicate their intention to share.

Our July event is outdoor and our December event is indoor.

July spaces are 10×10. December artists can choose between 8×10 spaces upstairs by the venue windows and 10×10 spaces in the venue arena.

Multiple space reservations can sometimes be arranged. Please get in touch if you need that option.

Booth location
Artists will have the opportunity to indicate preferred areas during registration, and we’ll accommodate requests as space allows. Placement maps will be sent shortly before the event.

If you anticipate needing additional light and/or electricity, please let us know well ahead of time and plan to bring utility cables. Cables cannot cross walkways or otherwise impede movement.

Street parking is free on Sundays, and there are several garages in the vicinity. You will receive loading/unloading instructions specific to your assigned space.
